End Of 2008 Quiz, Rushed And Unimaginative Version

1. What did you do in 2008 that you'd never done before? Visited Palm Springs.

2. Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I don't make them. I think if you want to make a change, just make it, no matter what time of year.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth? No, but someone close to me became pregnant!

4. Did anyone close to you die? No, thankfully.

5. What countries did you visit? I never left California! Oh wait, I did. I went to Las Vegas. Oh! And New York! How could I forget?

6. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008? I would like Alex to call the Italian neighborhood in San Francisco "North Beach" instead of "Little Italy".

7. What dates from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? Certain special Alex dates and the day of the election.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? Nurturing and maintaining my relationship with Alex.

9. What was your biggest failure? The great meltdown of April 19.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury? I had a weird sore throat when we were in SF last month. It only happened at night and only on the left side.

11. What was the best thing you bought? I bought Alex an espresso machine and it made him very happy, so probably that.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration? Porro's been a good little boy recently. We can celebrate tonight at dinner when I give him an extra bite or two.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? I can't think of anyone who made me feel that way.

14. Where did most of your money go? Rent, tattoo removal and bills.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? Moving into our new place.

16. What song will always remind you of 2008? "Drive" by The Cars

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? Happier.
b) thinner or fatter? Fatter.
c) richer or poorer? Poorer.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of? Bikram yoga. But it's too expensive!

19. What do you wish you'd done less of? Eating and spending money.

20. How did you spend Christmas? With Alex. We baked a cake, moved a load of stuff into the new house, visited with his family.

21. Did you fall in love in 2008? I stayed in love in 2008.

22. What was your favorite TV program? We watched the entire Sopranos thanks to Netflix. In fact, we just finished it last night. It ended so suddenly! I wasn't expecting that. And he killed Christopher! I didn't expect that either!

23. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year? I don't hate anyone. Man, how boring and nice.

24. What was the best book you read? I finished The Fountainhead! Finally!

25. What was your greatest musical discovery? Manu Chao.

26. What did you want and get? A sewing machine.

27. What did you want and not get? All of my tattoos completely removed.

28. What was your favorite film of this year? Son of Rambow!

29. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? I hung out in San Francisco with Alex, Alanna, Mauro, my dad and sister. I turned 33.

30. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? It felt quite satisfying already.

31. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008? I have never had a personal fashion concept. I wear jeans when it's cold, skirts when it's hot. I have a black coat. I wear the same jewelry every single day.

32. What kept you sane? I am naturally sane. I know I am lucky to be this way.

33. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? I think I have to say Mr. Obama, since about 100 people have commented on Alex's physical resemblance to him.

34. What political issue stirred you the most? Bristol Palin's teenage pregnancy, what else?

35. Who did you miss? My friend Bruce in Minneapolis, that one pregnant lady, Colin, top 100 restaurant dinners with Alanna, my sister.

36. Who was the best new person you met? Pablo and Lisa.

37. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008. Relationships really can be easy.

38. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year. They keep playing Katy Perry nonstop here at work so I think it has to be her. Except that I don't actually know her lyrics.
